Earning your Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology in the UK just got easier- and it’s less than a third of the cost!
Have you heard about the University of Huddersfield? It’s a great, public university with good records of teaching and research, and good rankings.
Here is the good news: you can earn your degree in the UK, become eligible for the post-graduation work permit and gain employment, or continue to a Master’s degree with your BCS diploma at the University of Huddersfield. Please note that many other schools will accept your BCS diploma for final-year entry but I have chosen to mention UH because there is a formal progression agreement in place.
The British Computer Society, also known as BCS The Chartered Institute for IT, is a professional body based in the UK and operating under a Royal Charter. Here is where it gets interesting: BCS offers professional exams at UK academic levels 4, 5, and 6 which correspond to the first, second, and final years of UK undergraduate education. These exams can be taken in most countries, including Nigeria.
Put in another way, you can earn a BCS level 4 certificate in IT and a BCS Level 5 Diploma in IT in Nigeria (and at reasonable Nigerian rates) and then study for your final year in a university in the UK in order to graduate with a bachelor’s degree. If the cost of UK education is a constraint, the final year studies (known as a “top-up”) can also be completed online (although this wouldn’t qualify for a UK work permit).
