Summer School @ Twim Institute

Structured. Engaging. Transformational.

Summer School @ Twim Institute is a 5–8 week intensive holiday programme. While it is open to all secondary school students, it primarily targets students in public secondary schools.

It is completely free of charge.

The programme combines academic reinforcement, vocational exposure, structured play, and project-based learning to create measurable educational and personal growth within a short period of time.

This is not a casual holiday camp. It is a carefully designed developmental intervention.

Who It Is For

Summer School is primarily designed for:

  • Students, mostly in public secondary schools

  • Young people who need academic reinforcement

  • Students with limited exposure to structured extracurricular learning

  • Learners who would benefit from confidence-building and mentorship

Our Learning Philosophy

Summer School uses a blended approach built on:

  • Learning by doing

  • Project-based learning

  • Structured play

  • Peer collaboration

  • Mentorship and supervision

Students are actively engaged every day. They build, create, speak, collaborate, compete, and explore rather than passively sit in classrooms.

What Students Experience

During the 5–8 week program, participants engage in:

Academic Reinforcement

Focused improvement in communication skills, especially English language comprehension and expression.
Many students who previously struggled with English demonstrate significant improvement in fluency and confidence by the end of the program.

Vocational and Tech Exposure

Introduction to practical, hands-on skills that broaden students’ awareness of career pathways and self-employment opportunities. We place students in our different departments: Fashion, Culinary Arts, Media Arts, and Tech.

Structured Games & Critical Thinking Activities

Students participate in games that develop strategy, teamwork, and discipline, including:

  • Monopoly

  • Chess

  • Relay races

  • Badminton

  • Table tennis

  • Other supervised team activities

These activities build confidence, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Arts, Crafts & Creative Projects

Students engage in creative exercises that encourage imagination, dexterity, and collaboration.

Field Trips & Excursions

Participants take part in supervised excursions within and outside Ibadan, expanding their exposure beyond their immediate environment and broadening their worldview.

Measurable Outcomes

The results of the Summer School programme are often immediate and visible.

By the end of the programme, many students:

  • Demonstrate significantly improved communication skills

  • Show stronger grasp of English expression

  • Display increased academic confidence

  • Become more motivated to complete secondary school

  • Develop aspirations toward higher education

  • Show improved teamwork and discipline

  • Become more financially aware and employability-conscious

Beyond the academic and vocational gains, students leave the programme more confident, more exposed, and more hopeful about their future.

And importantly, they have had an enjoyable and memorable experience while learning.

Why It Matters

For many participants, Summer School is a turning point.
It reshapes how they see education, work, and possibility.

By combining structured learning with structured play, we create an environment where growth feels natural, discipline feels achievable, and ambition feels attainable.
