Is Twim Institute an accredited centre of BCS?

Yes! Twim Institute is accredited by the British Computer Society, otherwise known as BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, to deliver its HEQs and professional certifications in areas such as Business Analysis, Agile, Artificial Intelligence and UX Design. You can confirm this from the BCS website here.

Where is Twim Institute located?

Twim Institute is located behind Jericho Mall, Onireke GRA, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. You can learn with us on campus or online from anywhere in the world depending on the specific program. We provide a limited number of hostel rooms on campus.

I don't live in Nigeria. Can I enroll?

Absolutely! We have students in different parts of the world- thanks to online education. You can enroll with us for any of our programs (except for Immersive Tech) regardless of where you are, or your nationality. We provide options to pay course fees in USD (which would work with debit and credit cards from most countries).

How do these programs position me for a high-paying job?

The IT industry is the 21st century’s “gold”, with opportunities all over the world. Opportunities include high, foreign-currency paying remote jobs, or positions in tech startups and companies around the world.

The BCS programs prepare you for several career pathways within the IT industry, making you an asset to any organization. With BCS HEQ or certifications, you also get well-recognized credentials that make your CV stand out.

HEQ Questions

How can I write the HEQ exams if I don't live in Nigeria?

BCS exams are conducted in several countries around the world, with standard centres located in Nigeria, the UK, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Ghana etc. If you are not close to a standard centre or there is none in your country, it is possible to request to sit your exam in a non-standard venue. This service attracts an extra fee.

How quickly can I complete the HEQ program?

BCS conducts HEQ exams twice a year- around April/May, and October respectively. You can sit for a level after passing the previous one. This implies that you may be able to complete the three levels (levels 4, 5 and 6) within a period of 1.5 years.

We however would advise that you pace yourself based on your level of knowledge within the IT industry. For most people, our recommendation would be one level per year, leading to a total duration of three years.

I am a newbie to IT. Will I be able to cope?

We prioritize hands-on, practical-oriented teaching and begin with the very basics. We are, therefore, confident that you would be able to cope if you make the required effort.

How does your online learning work?

We combine asynchronous and synchronous learning methods.

We sign all learners up to Online Campus, our Moodle-powered learning portal. On Online Campus, you will find recorded classes and tasks to be completed each week. You will also be able to submit assignments and engage in discussions.

We also hold live weekly classes via Zoom, giving you a chance to communicate with instructors and other learners. The number of live online classes per week increases as you progress in the course. The idea is to ensure that you have time to balance your learning with other commitments such as work but to also give you an intensive learning experience as the exams draw closer.

How can a BCS HEQ qualification help my Canada Express Entry application?

BCS qualifications are valid British qualifications regulated by, and bearing the logo of the UK Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). They are typically evaluated by equivalence bodies (such as WES) as below:

Level 4 Certificate in IT: One year of undergraduate education
Level 5 Diploma in IT: Two years of undergraduate education
Level 6 Professional Graduate Diploma in IT: Bachelors Degree with Honours

Many applicants who already have bachelor’s degrees typically sit the Level 4 Certificate in IT exams. With this added qualification, they are able to meet the “Two or more degrees or diplomas” option for higher CRS scores than they would have with a Bachelors degree.

Immersive TECH Program Questions

Is the Immersive Tech program available online?

The Immersive Tech program is not available as an online course for now.

What does the program cover?

The Immersive Tech program is a one year, full-time, in-person program that aims to get learners firmly established in the fundamentals of IT. Classes take place on-campus at Twim Institute in Ibadan and revolve around 3 main divisions: Software Development in which they learn how to code, Computer and Network Technology which familiarizes them with the fundamentals of computer hardware and networks, and Information Systems. This program also prepares learners for the BCS Level 4 Certificate in IT.

Typical learners are aged between 18 and 25 years.

Can I enroll in the Immersive Tech program if I'm above 25 years old?

This program is targeted at post-secondary candidates who are between 18 and 25. We, however, make all admission decisions on a case-by-case basis.

Do I have to be resident on campus for the Immersive Tech program?

We strongly recommend that you are resident on campus for the program. It is however not compulsory.

I would like to participate in the Immersive Tech program but can't move to Ibadan for the period.

We would recommend that you enrol for our BCS Level 4 HEQ program which is taught online.

What's the difference between the Immersive Tech program and the HEQ?

The Immersive Tech program is taught full-time, in-person, to younger learners who typically need a higher degree of supervision. The program is therefore more hands-on than our online program, and offers additional classes such as classes in English and Entrepreneurship. The program, however, also prepares learners for the BCS HEQ Level 4 exams over a one-year period.

Professional Certification Questions

After completing training, how soon can I write the exams?

As soon as you want. We do recommend taking a little time to revise and understand the concepts thoroughly before you write the exams.

Do you offer the same BCS certifications I will obtain in the UK?

Absolutely. We are an accredited centre of BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, which is based in the UK. All certificates are issued directly by BCS. They are also responsible for examinations and marking.

Can I sit the certification exams from home?

You can sit the exams anywhere in the world as long as you have a computer running Windows 10 or a more recent operating system, and can guarantee steady internet access and uninterrupted power supply for the duration of the exam. We provide online examination proctoring through Zoom or WhatsApp video sessions.
